As part of the Hays County Arts Alliance, Plein Air Wimberley is open to all artists who are interested in plein air painting. Our intent is to promote outdoor painting and to encourage artists of all skill levels to participate. The event is scheduled from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm, but artists can come late or leave early. Our hope is to encourage and promote outdoor painting, while creating a time and space to socialize and network with like-minded people.
Since our theme is "Water" we encourage artists to paint in and around the "Swim Lawn" adjoining Cypress Creek at Blue Hole Park. Artists are welcome to paint anywhere in the park.
Artists must bring their own art supplies and surfaces on which to create artwork.
Artists will be provided lunch at noon and bottled water throughout the day
We plan to have demonstrations, as well as a Q&A session to meet and socialize with other artists.
Artists will be able to submit their work to the WVAL website for the online show, followed by an in-person show later in the year.
Entries submitted for the online and in-person show must be created in the pure intent of outdoor, on location, plein air art. Subject matter in the artwork must be comprised of what the artist views on location. At least 80% of the artwork must be produced outdoors in the spirit of plein air during the event.
Photography & Media Release By registering, artists authorize the use of photos taken during the event — including images of artists and their artwork — for promotional purposes online and in printed materials for future events.
