Plein Air Wimberley 2026 Guidelines

Registration Cost: $30.00 Online until March 27, $40.00 the day of the event.

Event Overview As part of the Hays County Arts Alliance, Plein Air Wimberley is open to all artists interested in plein air painting. Our intent is to promote outdoor painting, encourage artists of all skill levels to participate, and provide opportunities to connect with other artists.
• Artists may participate for the full day or join for just the morning or afternoon sessions.
• Theme: “Water”
• Activities begin at the Swim Lawn along Cypress Creek, but artists may paint anywhere in the park.
What to Bring
• All art supplies and painting surfaces
• Optional personal snacks
• Weather‑appropriate clothing and sun protection
What’s Provided
• Lunch and bottled water
• Plein air demonstrations and Q&A sessions led by local artists
Artwork Submission & Show Guidelines
• Painting surfaces must be stamped by event staff at the registration table before painting.
• All artwork submitted for the online or in-person show must be created outdoors on location during the event.
• At least 80% of the work must be completed in the spirit of plein air painting.
• Online Show: Submit work through the WVAL website by March 31. The online show will go live by April 5.
• In-Person Show: Artists may submit up to two (2) works for consideration. Details, including location and date, will be provided later. • Selected artwork must be framed and ready to hang. If for sale, artists coordinate directly with buyers.
Photography & Media Release By registering, artists authorize the use of photos taken during the event — including images of artists and their artwork — for promotional purposes online and in printed materials for future events.
